About Gorillas

Gorillas are the largest and strongest primates in the wild. They mainly live in African rainforests. Adult males are larger than females and have a distinctive silver back, called a “silverback.” Their thick black or dark brown fur helps them adapt to the rainforest climate.

Gorillas live in social groups and are closely bonded with their families. They are gentle, intelligent, can use simple tools, and learn from their mothers and other group members. Gorillas show a wide range of emotions, including joy, sadness, love, and protectiveness of their young.

They eat leaves, fruits, stems, and sometimes insects, helping disperse seeds and maintain forest ecosystems. Gorillas are a rare species threatened by hunting and deforestation. Protecting them preserves nature and teaches humans about strength, intelligence, and kindness.
